Heritage Day History

Heritage Day in Yukon seeks to raise awareness about the culture, heritage, and history of the province. This day aims to highlight the diversity of Yukon culture through historical buildings, landscapes, and museums. It encourages learning more about the extensive history of Yukon. It is also a part of a wider celebration in Canada called Heritage Week.

Heritage Day was established as part of a Collective Agreement in 1975. It is observed annually on the Friday before the last Sunday in February.
