Grand National Ladies Day seems to have started as a tradition in 1928, though the style of dress wasn’t nearly as expressive. It is observed annually on the second day, usually Friday, of the three-day Grand National Aintree festival.

At least 45,000 people are expected to attend Grand National Ladies Day in 2021.
There is no official dress code for Grand National Ladies' Day. Guests however, are heavily encouraged to wear their best dress. Women are encouraged to wear colourful dresses and hats while men are encouraged to wear smart trousers, a shirt, and jacket.
The grand prize winner of the Style Award is set to receive a car. The Style Award recipient is selected by fashion ambassadors. It's said they look for a unique and original chic style.
