National Stroke Week is an awareness campaign to inform everybody about the signs of someone potentially suffering from a stroke. Strokes are a medical emergency which induce trouble walking, speaking, and understanding. Stokes have the potential to cause lasting brain damage.

The theme for National Stroke Week in 2023 will be Championing Care.
According to Brain Foundation, about 50,500 Australians have strokes annually. Stroke is a leading cause of death and adult disability in Australia.
It is predicted that by 2050, the number of annual strokes in Australia will rise to 50,600.
