Royal Hobart Regatta History

The Royal Hobart Regatta is an Australian aquatic event and the largest in the Southern Hemisphere. It is held annually in the southern Australian state of Tasmania and features 3 days of non-stop aquatic activities on the Derwent River and Queens Domain. Every year, competitors and spectators from around the world come to enjoy the competitions, musical performances, sideshows, rides, entertainers and water displays at the Regatta.

The Royal Hobart Regatta was first held in 1838 and has since been held annually over the second weekend in February from the Saturday through to the Monday. The Royal Australian Navy, Airforce and Army support to the Regatta and provide onlookers with helicopter demonstrations and Army and Navy Bands for entertainment.
