Safer Internet Day History

Safer Internet Day seeks to start a national conversation about using technology responsibly, respectfully, and creatively. This day encourages people to explore how they manage their online identity and to consider how they perceive both themselves and others online.

Safe Internet Day urges people to get a better understanding of how their online identity makes them feel and whether it is being used as a positive or negative form of expression.

Safer Internet Day was started in 2004 as an initiative of the EU SafeBorders project. It is observed annually in the beginning of February.
