![]() Pink Shirt Day HistoryPink Shirt Day seeks to encourage standing up against bullying and to promote kindness. This holiday reduces bullying and promotes inclusivity for all. Pink Shirt Day began in Canada in 2007 after students were being targeted for wearing pink to school. Two students took a stand against homophobic bullying by giving out pink shirts for their classmates to wear. According to Education Counts, in 2021, New Zealand was reported to have the highest rates of bullying in the world. Pink Shirt Day is celebrated annually and has been part of New Zealand since 2009.
