By the 7th century, Pope Boniface IV established the Feast of All Martyrs, which eventually evolved into the Feast of All Saints, encompassing not only martyrs but all holy men and women. Within the European Union, All Saints' Day holds particular significance for many nations, including Poland, Hungary, and Spain, where the observance is a national holiday.
