Marlborough Anniversary Day Facts

The Marlborough province was dissolved in 1876 along with all the other provinces that once formed New Zealand. Its founding is still commemorated locally in conformance with the New Zealand Holidays Act of 1981. Provinces had local governmental power but now only exist to denote regions and are known as provincial districts.
Marlborough is New Zealand's largest region in terms of wine production.
