Start of Spring History

Spring Equinox marks the first day of spring in the southern hemisphere. In the northern hemisphere, this day would mark the beginning of fall. When there is an Equinox, the sun switches sides from the southern hemisphere to the northern hemisphere of earth. On Spring Equinox, the day will have an equal amount of daytime and nighttime. After Spring Equinox in the southern hemisphere, the sun moves south which causes days to be longer and nights to be shorter until the arrival of Winter Solstice. In 2022, Spring Equinox will occur on Friday, September 23rd.
